JUVÉDERM VOLBELLA® XC was recently approved by the FDA for use in the lips and lip lines. The Williams Rejuva Center is one of the first practices in the Albany area to offer this newest injectable. It is in the family of Allergan’s Juvederm product line. This product is made of a different blend of Hyaluronic acid compared to those in the same family like, Juvederm Ultra, Juvederm Ultra Plus, and Juvederm Voluma. It is of a thinner consistency which is lending to softer smoother lips which helps to accentuate your lips for a more youthful appearance. Because of its unique structure we are seeing less swelling immediate post injection compared to other fillers used in the lips. Dr. Williams, Director of the Rejuva Center commented, “This is the perfect product our patients have been looking for to smooth out the vertical lines both within the red part of the lip and upper lip lines. It offers them a very natural appearing lip. Our patients are concerned of not looking natural. Because JUVÉDERM VOLBELLA® XC is so soft and made up of a smooth gel, your lips will feel natural. Initially after the injection you may feel as if they’re a little swollen but they will return to normal in a short time.

Are patients satisfied with treatment of JUVÉDERM VOLBELLA® XC?

The FDA studies showed patient satisfaction with correction of vertical lip lies and lips through one year.

What causes loss of volume and lip lines to form?

Lines like these can be caused by a number of factors like exposure to sun and increased muscle movement in that area.

Will I feel pain during the injection of JUVÉDERM VOLBELLA® XC?

Here at the Williams Rejuva Center we pride ourselves in doing all we can to make this experience as painless as possible. Your area around your mouth is first cleansed with a product called hibiclens and then wiped off with alcohol. A topical numbing cream is applied for a period of 10 to 20 minutes. Ice is then applied to the site for injection. We use the tiniest of needles and are very gentle. This product also contains Lidocaine which also helps to decrease any discomfort. Our patients say they feel very little discomfort.

How soon will I see results from the JUVÉDERM VOLBELLA® XC?

You will see immediate results from the treatment.

What is the cost of JUVÉDERM VOLBELLA® XC?

Our introductory offer is 440.00 per vial. The usual cost will be 500.00 per vial.

How much product is in each vial?

There is a little over a half of cc in each vial. Often patients may opt for multiple vials depending on the amount of lines and deflation of the lips.

What if I do not like the results with treatment with JUVÉDERM VOLBELLA® XC??

Because JUVÉDERM VOLBELLA® XC is made of hyaluronic acid it can easily be dissolved with the use of another medication that helps to dissolve the product almost immediately.

How do I know if I am a good candidate for this treatment with JUVÉDERM VOLBELLA® XC ?

If you are over the age of 22yr. and have reviewed the contraindications and do not exhibit any that are listed you could consider this treatment. Patients are typically looking for smoother, softer ,wrinkle free lips and lip lines.

What are some of the most common side effects with this lip injection?

Some common side effects seen in the clinical trials were temporary responses at the treatment site such as swelling, tenderness, bruising, firmness, lumps/bumps, redness, pain, discoloration, itching and dryness.

Where can JUVÉDERM VOLBELLA® XC be used?
This FDA approved gel is for injection into the lips for lip augmentation and for correction of perioral lines in adults over the age of 21.Off Label it has been known to be used under the eyes.

Are there any contraindications for JUVÉDERM VOLBELLA® XC injectable gel?
This product should not be used if you have a history of multiple severe allergies or severe allergic reactions or if you have an allergy to Lidocaine or Gram-positive bacterial proteins used in these products.

What other precautions should I know before Treatment?

• The safety of JUVÉDERM VOLBELLA® XC has not been studied for use during pregnancy or while breastfeeding.
• The safety in patients under 22 years has not been studied
• The only areas studied for safety and effectiveness of JUVÉDERM VOLBELLA® XC are in the lips and perioral area
• Inform your doctor if you have a history of excessive scarring, keloid formation or pigmentation disorders. as  this could result in additional scars or changes in pigmentation
• Inform your provider if you are planning other laser treatments or a chemical peel, because there is a possible risk of inflammation at the treatment site.
• If you are on immunosuppressive therapy this could result in an increased risk of infection
• If you are using medications that can prolong bleeding, such as aspirin, ibuprofen, fish oil, or other blood thinners, as this may cause increased bruising or bleeding at the injection site
• It is wise to minimize strenuous exercise, exposure to extensive sun or heat, and alcoholic beverages within the first 24 hours following treatment as this could cause increased swelling and discomfort
